관음사 T.I(Temple Identity) 디자인

T.I는 Temple Identity의 약자로 사찰(Temple)의 정체성(Identity)이 담긴 대중적 이미지의 총체를 뜻합니다.
‘만(卍)’자는 불교의 대표적 로고입니다. 
하지만 만(卍)자는 개별 사찰을 독립적으로 상징하지 못합니다. 
그렇기 때문에 불교 전체를 상징하는 만(卍)자와는 달리 개별 사찰의 정체성을 알릴 수 있는 T.I가 필요합니다. 
T.I는 개별 사찰의 고유 문장(紋章)을 사용함으로써 사람들이 각각의 사찰을 구별하여 인지할 수 있도록 만들어주는 상징인 것입니다.

관음사의 새로운 T.I (Temple Identity) 심볼마크는 부처님의 정법을 수행하는 재가 불자들의 귀의처이자 부처님의 자비를 실천하는 대표사찰로서 부처님의 꽃인 연꽃을 형상화한 것이며, 연꽃은 더러운 곳에 처해 있어도 세상에 물들지 않고, 항상 맑은 본성을 간직하고 있을 뿐만 아니라, 맑고 향기로운 꽃으로 피어나 세상을 정화 한다는 의미가 있습니다.

부처님의 꽃인 연꽃을 형상화한 것이며, 연꽃은 더러운 곳에 처해 있어도 세상에 물들지 않고, 항상 맑은 본성을 간직하고 있을 뿐만 아니라, 맑고 향기로운 꽃으로 피어나 세상을 정화 한다는 의미가 있습니다.

연꽃의 8개의 빨간색 꽃잎들은 번뇌와 고통과 더러움으로 뒤덮여 있는 사바세계의 이미지를 표현하였고, 8개의 주황색 꽃잎들은 고결하고 청정함을 잃지 않는 불·보살을 상징하고 있습니다.

The eight red lotus petals represent the image of the Sabah world covered with anguish, pain and dirt, and the eight orange petals represent the Buddha and Bodhisattva that are not losing its integrity and cleanliness.
